Oats idli is an easy breakfast recipe. Oats have a wide range of health benefits and a nutritious breakfast recipe. So today we can make a soft and spongy idli recipe. You can Serve warm oats idlis with green coriander chutney or with fresh coconut chutney and sambar in the breakfast or as a light evening dinner. Preparation time: 35 minutes Cook Time: 15 Minutes Serves: 4 Servings (18 idlis)
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Oats(instant Oats/ Rolled Oats)
- 1/2 cup Rava(Sooji)
- 1/2 cup Curd(Pain Yoghurt)
- 2 Green Chilies (Chopped)
- 1 Carrot(grated)
- Salt as per taste
- 1 Cup Water(as per your need)
- one and a half Eno Salt(3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda)
For the seasoning

- 1 tpsn Oil
- 1 tpsn Channa Dal(if want to use)
- 1 tpsn Urad Dal(if want to use)
- 1 tpsn Mustard Seeds
- 7 Curry Leaves(Chopped)
- 1/2 Cummin Seeds

- Firstly Take 1 cup oats in a Kadai and roast them for 4-5 minutes over medium flame.
- After Roasted the Oats Turn off the flame and Transfer roasted oats to a plate and let it cool for 4-5 minutes. Now add the oats to the small jar of a mixer grinder.
- Now Grind the Oats into a slightly coarse powder.
- Take 1 tablespoon oil in the same Kadai/pan over medium flame and heat it. Add 1 teaspoon chana dal, 1/2 teaspoon urad dal, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 7-8 chopped curry leaves and 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds.
- Now Saute the channa daal until it turns light brown and add 1/2 Cup Sooji in it.
- Mix well until it turns light brown
- The oats coarse Powder in it and cook for 1 minute.

Now add the mixture in a Large Bowl and add the 1/2 cup curd, chopped green chilies and chopped coriander(green daniya), Grated Carrot and 1/3 cup salt as per taste and mix well.

- Mix and set aside for 5 to 7 mins. Meanwhile, get the steamer ready and grease the plates.
- Add ½ tsp baking soda or 1 tsp eno. You can also reduce 1 to 2 pinches of soda. Mix well. You will begin to see bubbles in the mixture
- Pour the batter to the greased plates. Wait until the water begins to boil rapidly, then put the idli stand inside. Cover and steam for 11 to 12 mins on a high flame. The color of the idli depends on the kind of oats used. I had used rolled oats, hence the yellowish color.
- Allow them to cool down a bit. Grease a spoon or knife and remove the idli.
- Serve oats idli hot with chutney or sambar
