Performance-wise, the Breville Sous Chef is unmatched, owing to its incredibly strong motor. With a micro-serrated S-blade, an adjustable slicer with 24 settings (from paper-thin to thick-cut), a reversible shredder, a dough blade, and more, it’s packed with features to give you maximum adaptability.

This device produced flawlessly ground Parmesan, properly chopped onions, minced (not bruised) parsley, and uniformly sliced tomatoes in a matter of seconds, earning perfect scores in almost every test we ran. One of the feeding tubes on the elegant silver Sous Chef can accommodate a whole tomato or a one-pound brick of mozzarella. Remember that the attachments for this food processor require special cleaning attention and cannot be placed in the dishwasher.

This food processor has additional features and slices food more effectively. However, slicing the almonds and onions takes a little longer.

With many settings, multiple sizes of food pushers, and an adjustable slicing blade (that cuts far thinner than the one-size slicing disk that comes with our selection), the Cuisinart Core Custom 13-Cup Food Processor offers more bells and whistles. However, it took longer for this machine to chop things like onions and almonds. Apart from that, it functions pretty much like our best choice.

The Core Custom 13-Cup is a terrific choice if our recommendation is sold out or if you prioritize thinner slicing (especially if it’s on sale for less). Its cutting edges and slicing disks nest in a storage hub that is supplied and fits inside the bowl, saving you from being overrun by extra storage bins or loose parts.

While I do own a full-sized food processor, I don’t use it very often. I usually use my Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus food processor. It has a meager 3-cup capacity, two buttons, and a single tiny set of chopping blades made of stainless steel. It is really helpful whenever I need spreads, dips, and sauces quickly. Small yet robust, this food processor is a powerful workhorse. For most of my weeknight meal prep needs, such as rapidly chopping an onion or blending a small batch of salsa verde for my monthly taco intake, I’ve found that the 250-watt motor works nicely.

I adore how lightweight, small, and manageable it is it just takes up less than five inches of counter space. Its design also makes cleanup simple: the work bowl includes a handle for spill-free pouring, and the lid needs to be firmly put in place before it will activate, so there won’t be any nasty splatter. This food processor is ideal if your kitchen is small or if you frequently cook for just one or two people.
